The Idaho Division of Motor Vehicles is expanding its “Skip the Trip” initiative to eastern Idaho, bringing self-service vehicle registration kiosks to Fred Meyer locations in Idaho Falls and Pocatello, according to eastidahonews.com.
The new automated stations are scheduled to launch approximately one month after the program’s initial rollout in the Treasure Valley. Five kiosks are currently debuting at Albertsons and Fred Meyer stores in Boise and Meridian over several weeks, with plans to expand to Nampa, Twin Falls, and the Coeur d’Alene area as well.
In Idaho Falls, the kiosk will be located at 1555 Northgate Mile. The Pocatello unit will be installed at 800 Yellowstone Avenue. These installations aim to provide quicker transaction options for residents seeking to renew standard vehicle registrations without visiting a DMV office or waiting in line.
At launch, the kiosks will handle only basic registration renewals. Customers cannot use the machines to update personal information or make changes to vehicle records. The agency indicated that additional services and locations may be added as the program expands.
Users should expect to pay a vendor service fee in addition to the standard credit card processing charge when completing transactions at these self-service stations.
