Idaho Falls Schedules Flock Camera Debate for November 4

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — A public debate over automated license plate readers, commonly called Flock cameras, is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, at the Westbank Convention Center.

Bonneville County Sheriff Sam Hulse and Idaho Falls Police Chief Bryce Johnson will participate. Brian McKellar will represent DeFlock Idaho and Stand Up For Idaho.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Falls Police Department have previously supported Flock cameras in the area. Both agencies say the technology helps solve crimes and is comparable to an officer recording information with a pen and paper.

DeFlock Idaho members and other opponents have raised privacy and public-safety concerns about the cameras.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the debate begins at 6:30 p.m. The event is open to the public, and admission is free.

Participants: Sam Hulse, Bryce Johnson and Brian McKellar.
