BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho — Sheriff’s deputies are asking residents for help finding a 20-year-old man who disappeared after fleeing on foot from law enforcement in the early morning hours of June 7 to avoid being taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.
Tayson Paul Thomas was formally reported missing on the morning of June 10. He was last seen at approximately 2:30 a.m. on June 7 in the area of Mitchel’s Restaurant and the On the Run Truck Stop, formerly known as KJ’s, located on Iona Road near the Lewisville Highway.
Search Turns Up No Trace of Thomas
When Thomas spotted law enforcement in the area, he fled on foot. Deputies conducted a search of the surrounding area but were unable to locate him. Adding to concerns about his welfare, a cell phone belonging to Thomas was later recovered at a nearby residence, meaning he has likely been without a means of communication since his disappearance.
No one among his known friends or family has reported any contact with Thomas since the early morning hours of June 7, leaving his whereabouts entirely unknown for several days before the missing persons report was filed.
Thomas is described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and 140 pounds. He is bald with a goatee and has multiple tattoos. Anyone who may have seen Thomas or knows of his current location is encouraged to contact Bonneville County Dispatch at (208) 529-1200.
Community Awareness Urged Along the Iona Road Corridor
The area along Iona Road and the Lewisville Highway corridor has seen a number of public safety incidents in recent months. Residents and travelers in that stretch of eastern Bonneville County are asked to be alert and report any sightings of Thomas to authorities promptly. A bystander recently broke a vehicle window to rescue a woman after a car entered a canal near Iona Road, underscoring how quickly emergencies can develop in the region.
Bonneville County deputies have not released information about the nature of the outstanding warrant that prompted Thomas to flee, but the extended period without any contact from the young man has elevated concern for his safety. Authorities have not indicated whether foul play is suspected.
Searchers have combed the vicinity of the truck stop and restaurant without success, and the investigation into his whereabouts remains active.
