Residents invited for swimming pool re-opening, Arbor Day celebration

Twin Falls, Idaho Invites Residents to City Pool Grand Reopening and Arbor Day Celebration

Twin Falls Parks and Recreation to Host Community Event Marking Pool Renovation Completion

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — The City of Twin Falls Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the community to a celebration on Friday that will mark two milestones: the official reopening of the remodeled Twin Falls City Pool and the observance of Arbor Day. The event is open to the public and promises a series of activities recognizing both the completion of a significant infrastructure project and the importance of environmental stewardship in the community.

Festivities are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. with a community tree planting in honor of Arbor Day at the Twin Falls City Pool. Immediately following the tree planting, the mayor will present an official Arbor Day proclamation recognizing the importance of trees and environmental stewardship in the community. The formal ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated pool will then take place at 4 p.m., followed by a guided tour of the upgraded facility.

The City Pool renovation is the result of a $2 million project that included upgrades to the locker rooms, among other improvements. Construction work on the project began last fall. City leaders and parks officials have described the effort as a meaningful investment in community recreation infrastructure that will serve Twin Falls residents for years to come.

Pool Renovation Follows Groundbreaking Ceremony Last Fall

The project’s groundbreaking was held on September 10, 2025, with city officials — including Twin Falls Mayor Ruth Pierce, Vice Mayor Jason Brown, city councilmen Chris Reid, Grayson Stone, and Craig Hawkins, and Aquatics Director John Pauley — marking the occasion with a ceremonial shovel at the pool site. The event signaled the start of what would become a months-long renovation effort to modernize one of the city’s most-used recreational facilities.

The completion of the City Pool renovation reflects a broader trend of community facility upgrades across Idaho. Idaho Falls recently celebrated the completion of its own multi-million dollar Frontier Center renovation, demonstrating the commitment of municipalities across the region to maintaining and improving public spaces for residents.

The Arbor Day component of Friday’s event adds another dimension to what city officials are framing as a celebration of community pride. The tree planting and subsequent mayoral proclamation are intended to highlight the city’s commitment to green spaces and long-term environmental stewardship — values that align with responsible local governance and community planning.

What to Expect at Friday’s Celebration

Residents attending the event can expect a full afternoon of programming. The community tree planting kicks off at 3 p.m. at the Twin Falls City Pool, followed immediately by the mayor’s official Arbor Day proclamation. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 4 p.m., formally reopening the pool to the public. A guided tour of the newly remodeled facility will follow the ceremony, giving residents a firsthand look at the upgraded locker rooms and other improvements made during the renovation.

The Parks and Recreation Department is encouraging broad community participation in the event, which is designed to bring residents together for both a civic celebration and a recreational milestone. The pool serves as a central gathering place for families during the warmer months, and its reopening is expected to be welcomed by the many Twin Falls households that rely on it for summer programming and recreation.

Events like these reinforce the role local government can play in supporting quality of life when spending is targeted, transparent, and tied to tangible community benefits. As summer approaches, the reopened facility will offer residents expanded access to aquatic recreation. East Idaho continues to see similar community-centered development, including upcoming entertainment events at the 2026 East Idaho State Fair that highlight the region’s vibrant community calendar.

What Comes Next

Following Friday’s ribbon-cutting, the Twin Falls City Pool is expected to resume regular operations as the summer season approaches.
