Trailer Swerves on U.S. 20, Rolls Pickup and Injures Two

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — A trailer swerved across U.S. 20 west of Idaho Falls at about 10:11 a.m., causing a pickup truck to roll and injuring two people, police said.

A 65-year-old Rapid City man was driving a 2020 GMC Sierra eastbound while towing a single-axle trailer when the trailer began moving from side to side and entered the westbound lanes. The driver steered back into the eastbound lanes, but the pickup left the roadway, rolled into an embankment and came to rest on its cab.

The driver and a 75-year-old Rapid City woman were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. Both occupants were wearing seat belts.

The crash blocked U.S. 20 in both directions for about 30 minutes. The Idaho State Police investigation received assistance from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho Falls Fire Department.
