The National Weather Service has issued a marginal risk of severe storms for the area. Residents should be prepared for sudden outflow winds and lightning that may strike before precipitation arrives. Current north winds are blowing between 5 and 15 mph, but stronger, unpredictable gusts are possible within storm cells.
Rainfall totals will vary across the region. The eastern highlands could see approximately half an inch of rain. While temperatures are expected to climb to around 78 degrees this afternoon, cloud cover and precipitation may make it feel cooler. Friday begins with a slight chance of rain before skies become partly sunny. A 50 percent chance of thunderstorms is expected to kick off the weekend, with highs reaching around 73 degrees. Overnight lows on Friday night will drop to approximately 43 degrees, maintaining a 50 percent chance of storms.
Saturday starts with lingering shower and storm chances but improves as the day progresses. After 3 p.m., the probability of a shower or thunderstorm drops to 20 percent. Highs on Saturday are near 69 degrees, with overnight lows falling to around 41 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Clearing Skies Ahead
Sunday brings sunny skies and a high of 74 degrees across Eastern Idaho and Western Wyoming. Monday continues the trend with sunny conditions and a high near 78 degrees. Temperatures are expected to climb back toward 80 degrees during the first three days of the new week.
