Pebble Creek Ski Area received its first snowfall of the season on Monday, marking the start of preparations for a winter opening targeted for mid-December or Christmas week. The resort aims to begin operations weather permitting, with snowmaking efforts scheduled to commence as soon as conditions allow.
Infrastructure Upgrades
Crews spent the summer performing extensive improvements across the mountain following a previous season that saw dwindling adult visitation despite consistent school programs. Maintenance teams replaced ramps on all three lifts at the facility. Dana Barrow, assistant general manager, noted that standard lift maintenance and inspections were completed alongside these structural updates.
Safety enhancements included adding restraint bars to the Aspen chairlift, which primarily serves students attending lessons at the mountain. “As always, we had tons of lift maintenance and inspections that we got done; we also added restraint bars on the Aspen chairlift,” Barrow said.
Inside the lodge, new carpeting was installed, and fresh picnic tables were placed on the deck. At the summit of the Skyline lift, larger trail maps replaced fading signs to improve visibility for skiers.
Trail and Program Changes
The Pebble Lane cat track was widened and recontoured to provide a more consistent downhill slope. The mountain will continue offering lessons for participants of all ages and abilities. Additionally, Portneuf Valley Adaptive Sports is holding its sophomore season at the resort for disabled athletes.
Indy Pass Integration
This marks the first season Pebble Creek is included in the Indy Pass program. To manage capacity constraints during peak times, Indy Pass holders will be limited to weekday visits. Resort leadership hopes that traffic from pass holders will help sustain seven-day operations throughout the season.
Forecasters predict a record-breaking El Niño pattern for the upcoming winter, which could bring above-average temperatures. Despite potential weather challenges, management remains optimistic about attendance figures compared to last year.
“We are excited to have a better season than last year. Surely it’s bound to be better,” Barrow said.
