A traveling museum celebrating America’s founding principles and historical figures will set up at the Bonneville County Fairgrounds next month, offering free admission to residents interested in exploring the nation’s heritage through immersive exhibits and hands-on technology.
The Freedom 250 Mobile Museum will occupy the fairgrounds at 1542 E. 73rd S. from August 8 through 10, opening daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition occupies an 80-foot mobile trailer equipped with authentic artifacts, interactive displays, and digital stations designed to engage visitors of all ages.
What Visitors Will Experience
The traveling museum features several standout attractions. Visitors can use digital stations to virtually sign the Declaration of Independence, offering a tangible connection to one of America’s founding documents. A Wall of American Heroes showcases 50 influential figures from the nation’s history, providing context on their contributions to the country’s development and values.
The exhibit also includes Patriot Spuddy Buddies, mascot characters available for photographs, adding a family-friendly element to the educational experience.
The Daughters of the American Revolution will enhance Saturday’s programming by offering children Revolutionary Era-themed activities, extending educational opportunities beyond the main museum displays.
Part of Nationwide Tour
The Freedom 250 Mobile Museum operates as part of a larger commemorative initiative. Six custom-built 18-wheelers, branded as “Freedom Trucks,” comprise the fleet touring across America. The $14 million taxpayer-funded project launched earlier this year and will continue traveling through the lower 48 states into 2027, aligning with the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration.
Susan Stucki, a project representative, underscored the relevance of the visit. “This is a meaningful opportunity for our community to remember the people, principles and sacrifices that helped forge the nation we call home,” Stucki said.

Bonneville County residents can mark their calendars for August 8-10 to experience the exhibition at no cost. The fairgrounds location provides accessible parking and facilities for families planning a visit. Given the free admission and interactive nature of the displays, the three-day window may draw significant local interest, particularly from homeschooling families and school groups planning summer educational activities.
