One Dead, Three Hurt After Two-Vehicle Crash North of Idaho Falls
Fatal Collision at Bonneville County Intersection Under State Police Investigation
A two-vehicle crash at a rural Bonneville County intersection Friday evening left one man dead and three others hospitalized, according to a news release from the Idaho State Police.
The collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Line Road and North 5th East, located north of Idaho Falls. A black 2012 Nissan Sentra and a red 2004 Ford F-250 pickup truck were involved in the impact.
Idaho State Police said the Nissan was traveling eastbound on County Line Road, operated by a 32-year-old man from Bryan, Texas. The vehicle stopped at a posted stop sign before entering the intersection. At the same time, a 28-year-old woman from Rigby was driving the F-250 southbound on North 5th East and struck the Nissan.
Passenger Fatality and Road Closures
Three passengers were riding in the Nissan at the time of the crash — a 32-year-old woman from Salt Lake City, a 70-year-old man from India, and a 64-year-old woman from India. ISP’s release stated that the 70-year-old male passenger died at the scene. The remaining three Nissan occupants were transported by ground ambulance to a local medical facility. No information on their conditions was included in the release.
The driver of the F-250 did not require ambulance transport, though authorities did not specify whether she sustained injuries.
Preliminary findings indicate the man who died was not restrained by a seat belt at the time of the crash. Investigators have not yet confirmed whether the other vehicle occupants were buckled. The investigation is ongoing.
The intersection was fully closed for approximately one hour following the crash, with partial road closures remaining in effect for roughly four and a half hours as troopers worked the scene.
