Idaho Falls will begin its annual loose-leaf collection Monday, Oct. 26, with citywide pickups scheduled through Nov. 20.
Residents should check their neighborhood’s collection schedule and rake leaves to the curb one week before the scheduled pickup. Leaves must be separated from sticks, branches, trash and other debris.
Vehicles, trailers and other items should be moved from streets during collection. Street Division crews cannot collect leaves blocked by vehicles or mixed with debris. Crews will make one curbside pass, and repeat collections are not guaranteed. Large piles may be removed early with heavy equipment.
Bagged Leaf Options
Residents may drop off bagged leaves at the Bonneville County Transfer Station, 2455 Hemmert Ave. Each bag must weigh no more than 50 pounds. Residents can also schedule one free curbside pickup of bagged leaves through the Idaho Falls Sanitation Division, but they must supply their own bags.
For loose-leaf collection questions, call the Street Division at (208) 612-8490. For bagged-leaf pickup, call Idaho Falls Sanitation at (208) 612-8491.
Property owners must maintain tree and branch clearance above streets under City Code Title 8, Chapter 9. The required clearance is 13 feet above the street at the curb and 15 feet above the centerline.
Idaho Falls Public Works posted the notice Oct. 19, 2026.
