Fire Crews Respond to Blaze Off Swan Falls Road
A wildfire that burned 1,500 acres near Kuna on Saturday afternoon has been contained after a rapid response from multiple agencies, according to BLM Idaho Fire officials.
The Moore Fire, as it has been designated, began Saturday and prompted an immediate response from Boise Unit Fire crews who arrived at the scene off Swan Falls Road at 3:28 p.m. The blaze quickly spread across open land in the area southwest of Kuna, requiring coordination between federal, state, and local emergency services.
The Idaho Department of Lands has determined the fire was human-caused. An investigation into the specific origin of the blaze is currently underway, with authorities surveying the area where the fire started to determine what sparked the flames.
Containment Achieved Ahead of Sunday Deadline
Fire crews projected they would achieve containment by 9 p.m. Saturday evening. That goal was met slightly behind schedule, with full containment confirmed by 10:30 p.m., according to a social media update from BLM Idaho Fire.
Firefighters remain on scene working to gain complete control of the fire, with that objective expected to be reached by 2 p.m. Sunday. Control of a wildfire goes beyond containment, ensuring all hot spots are extinguished and the fire no longer poses a threat of spreading.
Multiple BLM fire trucks responded to the incident, supported by personnel from Idaho Power, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, and Idaho State Police. State police established traffic control points, turning vehicles away from Swan Falls Road as crews battled the blaze.

Road closures were put in place from West Victory Lane south to Dedication Point during the firefighting effort. Those closures have since been lifted as the fire came under control.
While no mandatory evacuation orders were issued, officials advised residents in the immediate area to leave as a precautionary measure while crews worked to contain the flames. The fire threatened structures in its path before containment lines were established.
The location of the fire, off Swan Falls Road near Dedication Point, sits in a rural area with scattered residential properties and agricultural land.
