Federal aviation regulators have ordered inspections of approximately 471 Boeing 737 Max aircraft registered in the United States after cracks were discovered in a structural component near the front of the fuselage, adding to a growing list of safety concerns surrounding the aircraft manufacturer.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued an airworthiness directive requiring airlines to examine Boeing 737 Max 8, Max 9, and Max 8-200 jets for possible cracking in a structural reinforcement surrounding the forward service door on the right side of the aircraft, located near the forward galley.
