U.S. News & World Report has designated Compass Academy as the top-performing high school in the Idaho Falls area, placing it first among 14 regional institutions evaluated in the latest assessment.
The national publication’s methodology weighed several academic indicators to determine standings. Key factors included college readiness metrics, curriculum breadth, state assessment scores and overall performance, outcomes for underserved student populations, and graduation rates.
Compass Academy distinguished itself primarily through strong results on standardized testing. The school recorded an 81.6 percent proficiency rate on the English Language Arts state assessment. This figure stands more than 27 percentage points above the Idaho state average, marking a significant gap between the charter school’s performance and broader statewide benchmarks.
The ranking reflects Compass Academy’s consistent academic output across multiple measures rather than a single test score. By leading in this composite evaluation, the school secured the number one position for the immediate region according to the publication’s criteria.
