A 50-year-old Challis, Idaho man is behind bars on serious felony charges after a young girl told authorities he had been sending her explicit photographs of himself through Snapchat — a report that ultimately led investigators to a trove of alleged child sexual abuse material on his electronic devices.

Girl’s Report Triggers Investigation

Glenn Duane Eliason was taken into custody following a complaint filed on March 30, in which a girl told law enforcement that Eliason — whom she identified as a former neighbor — had sent her naked images of himself via the Snapchat messaging application.

Authorities moved to secure a search warrant, which was executed on April 22 at Eliason’s home and vehicles. Deputies seized multiple electronic devices during the search, which were subsequently transferred to the Idaho Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children unit in Boise for forensic analysis.

The forensic review yielded disturbing results. Investigators identified 13 images constituting child sexual abuse material, allegedly showing girls under the age of 18 engaged in sexual activity with adult men. An additional 30 images were flagged and categorized as possible child sexual abuse material, pending further review.

Felony Charges and High Bond

Eliason now faces 13 counts of felony possession of child sexually exploitative material — one count corresponding to each confirmed image discovered during the forensic examination. He was booked into the Custer County Jail following his arrest.

A judge set bond at $250,000, reflecting the severity of the charges. If convicted on all counts, Eliason could face up to life in prison under Idaho law.

Cases involving child exploitation material are prosecuted aggressively in Idaho, with investigators relying heavily on digital forensics to build evidence. The Idaho Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children task force plays a central role in processing seized electronics and has been instrumental in a number of high-profile cases across the state in recent years.

The Bonneville County and surrounding East Idaho court system has seen an uptick in cases involving digital evidence and electronic crimes. What Comes Next

Eliason’s case will move through the Idaho court system as prosecutors work through the evidence gathered by the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit. The additional 30 images flagged as possible child sexual abuse material may factor into future charges depending on how forensic analysts ultimately classify them.

Anyone with information relevant to this case or similar concerns involving child exploitation is encouraged to contact local law enforcement or the Idaho Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit directly. The investigation remains active, and additional details may emerge as the case progresses toward trial or resolution in Custer County.

Eliason is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
