A 44-year-old Idaho Falls woman was killed Sunday afternoon when her Honda Accord was struck by a pickup truck on US-26 in Bonneville County, according to Idaho State Police.
The crash happened at approximately 4:26 p.m. near milepost 349, south of Ririe. The woman was driving a 2017 Honda Accord westbound when she attempted a left turn and was hit by a 2007 Toyota Tundra pulling a utility trailer, also traveling westbound.
The Honda driver died at the scene. Investigators noted she was not wearing a seat belt.
The Toyota was driven by a 37-year-old man from Ammon, who had three juvenile passengers in the vehicle. All four occupants were wearing seat belts and were transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. Their conditions were not immediately released.
The collision blocked the left-side westbound lane of US-26 for roughly three hours while crews responded.
Idaho State Police District 6 is handling the investigation. Anyone with information can contact the district office at 208-528-3400.
The crash adds to a troubling stretch of serious roadway incidents across the region. Earlier this month, a four-vehicle pileup on I-15 near Fort Hall in neighboring Bingham County sent two people to the hospital.
What Comes Next: Idaho State Police will continue their investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Authorities are expected to release further details as the case is reviewed. The Bonneville County coroner’s office will handle identification and formal cause-of-death proceedings for the deceased woman.
