Downtown Idaho Falls Flower and Wreath Program Hits Record Sponsorship Numbers in 2026

Downtown Boise, Idaho

The effort to keep downtown Idaho Falls blooming and festive year-round has reached a new milestone, with organizers reporting the highest sponsorship totals in the program’s eleven-year history heading into the 2026 season.

The Idaho Falls Downtown Development Corporation (IFDDC) and the Idaho Falls Historical Downtown Foundation together secured approximately 120 hanging flower basket sponsorships, nearly 20 ground flowerpot sponsorships, and 120 holiday wreath sponsorships for the current year — numbers that organizers say represent a record for the annual beautification initiative.

A Program That Has Grown Since 2015

The downtown beautification program got its start in 2015 and has expanded steadily since then, cycling through spring, summer, and fall flower installations before transitioning to coordinated holiday wreaths during winter months. The floral displays are positioned throughout a defined area of the city core, running from Memorial Drive to Yellowstone Avenue and from D Street to Cliff Street, creating a consistent visual corridor through the commercial heart of Idaho Falls.

This year’s program carries an added layer of significance. The 2026 installations feature red and white flowers chosen to complement the nationwide America 250 celebration marking the country’s semiquincentennial. The patriotic color palette ties a local beautification effort to a broader national milestone, giving sponsors and residents a ceremonial dimension to the annual display.

Kerry Hammon, executive director of the IFDDC, pointed to the response from the local business and civic community as a reflection of how residents value the downtown corridor. “The incredible response to this year’s sponsorship campaign reflects the pride our community has for the heart of our city,” Hammon said.

Sponsorships Fuel the Displays

The program’s funding model relies on community sponsorships rather than government appropriations alone, meaning the record numbers translate directly into more flowers, more baskets, and more visible investment in the streetscape. The combination of hanging baskets at eye level, ground-level flowerpots near storefronts, and seasonal wreaths during the holiday window creates layered visual interest throughout the year rather than a single-season splash.

The holiday wreath component — with 120 units already sponsored for the coming season — also signals that businesses and donors are thinking well beyond the summer months when locking in their commitments. Securing wreath sponsorships this early in the calendar year gives organizers the lead time to plan installations cohesively across the full footprint from Memorial Drive to Yellowstone Avenue.

Businesses, organizations, or individuals interested in learning more about supporting the program can reach the IFDDC at (208) 535-0399 or visit the office at 381 Shoup Avenue, Suite 207 in Idaho Falls.

Community Investment in the City Core

Downtown beautification programs like this one carry economic as well as aesthetic value. A well-maintained, visually appealing commercial district helps attract foot traffic, supports existing retailers, and signals to prospective businesses that the community takes care of its public spaces. When sponsorship numbers climb year over year, it also indicates that local stakeholders — property owners, merchants, civic groups — continue to see the downtown core as worth investing in.

The record 2026 sponsorship totals arrive at a moment when downtown Idaho Falls is seeing a range of community activity. Upcoming events including the Make-A-Wish Idaho annual fundraising walk and other community gatherings are drawing residents back to the city center throughout the warmer months, adding foot traffic that the beautification program’s displays are designed to complement.

What Comes Next

With spring and summer installations already underway and fall displays on the way, the IFDDC and the Idaho Falls Historical Downtown Foundation will shift focus toward the holiday wreath installations as the calendar moves into late fall. The 120 wreath sponsorships already secured suggest the winter corridor will be among the most fully decorated in the program’s history.

Residents and visitors passing through the downtown core between Memorial Drive, Yellowstone Avenue, D Street, and Cliff Street throughout the 2026 calendar year will see the results of this year’s record-setting community investment at street level.
