Ammon Chick-fil-A to Shut Down for Summer Renovations Beginning June 25

Ammon, Idaho — Residents of eastern Idaho who rely on the Ammon Chick-fil-A as their go-to fast food stop will need to make other plans this summer. The restaurant is scheduled to close for renovations beginning Thursday, June 25, with a planned reopening by the end of summer, barring any unforeseen delays.

The closure affects what is widely considered a community staple — the only free-standing Chick-fil-A location in eastern Idaho. While students at BYU-Idaho and Idaho State University have access to Chick-fil-A locations on their respective campuses, the Ammon restaurant stands as the sole independent outpost for the region’s general public.

What the Upgrades Will Include

According to a company spokesman, the work will touch both the inside and outside of the building. “Upon reopening, the restaurant will feature interior and exterior enhancements, including updates to the kitchen and drive-thru,” the spokesman said. Those drive-thru improvements are likely to draw particular attention, given the location’s popularity and the lines that frequently stretch during peak hours.

Local owner and operator Lauren Mosteller oversees the Ammon location, which has been serving the community for 15 years. The renovation represents a significant investment in a restaurant that has become a fixture along the Ammon commercial corridor since opening roughly a decade and a half ago.

A Regional Institution Taking a Timeout

Chick-fil-A now operates more than 3,000 restaurants across 48 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and Canada, making it one of the largest fast food chains in the country. Despite that national scale, the Ammon location carries outsized importance for east Idaho customers who don’t have other nearby standalone options.

The summer timeline means the closure will overlap with some of the busiest months for both local families and visitors passing through the region. Customers planning trips along I-15 or Highway 20 who were counting on the Ammon stop should plan accordingly, as the location is expected to remain dark for several weeks.

No specific date beyond “end of summer” has been announced for the reopening, and the company noted the timeline remains subject to change depending on how construction progresses. Customers are encouraged to follow the restaurant’s local communications for updated information as the project moves forward.

With summer already filling up with community events across the Idaho Falls and Ammon area — including the Idaho Falls Celebration marking the state surpassing its 250,000 service goal — the Chick-fil-A closure is one more item locals will be navigating in the weeks ahead.

What Comes Next

The Ammon Chick-fil-A is expected to reopen before the summer ends, with a refreshed interior, updated kitchen equipment, and drive-thru improvements intended to improve the overall customer experience. Once a firm reopening date is confirmed, Mosteller and the Chick-fil-A team are expected to announce details publicly. For now, east Idaho customers have roughly three weeks before the doors close and the renovation work begins on June 25.
