Firefighters Halt Two Brush Fires in Ammon Foothills Before Independence Day

Two separate brush fires that ignited near the Ammon foothills on the evening of July 3 have been stopped from advancing, authorities said, with crews working through the night to secure containment before the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The first fire was reported near South High Willow Lane in the foothills area. A second blaze broke out near East Comish Drive and East 65th South, also in the Ammon foothills region. Both fires had their forward movement halted as firefighting personnel worked to suppress the flames and prevent further spread.

Bonneville County Fire District 1 coordinated response efforts as crews moved to contain the incidents. The timing of the fires—just hours before a major holiday—raised concerns about potential disruption to weekend activities across Bonneville County.

Details on the cause of either fire remain unclear at this time. The extent of acreage burned and the full scope of containment operations were not immediately disclosed.

Residents in the Ammon area were advised to remain alert to emergency notifications, though no immediate evacuation orders were reported as crews brought the situation under control.

What Comes Next
Bonneville County Fire District 1 is expected to provide additional details on the fires’ origins, total acreage affected, and final containment status as crews complete their work and transition to mop-up operations. The agency may also issue guidance on whether any areas remain restricted to the public.
